The picture above is a shot of the backyard. Everything is coated in ice. Roads, cars, trees and power lines! If I made any attempt to go outside, my best means of transportation would be my ice skates.
So, I missed the gym this weekend. Just when I thought I could get a couple to really good workouts in before the Christmas extravaganza. Doesn’t it seem like there will always be something that will try to prevent you from doing the things that you’ve set your mind to do?
Just when Mother Nature thought she could foil my plans, I pulled out my yoga mat, 3 and 5 pound free weights and my laptop. My little at home gym sufficed and I busted through two at-home workouts this weekend.
Saturday’s exercise consisted of a 10 minute exercise with Pop Sugar Fitness’ cardio routine and 20 minutes of following the Tracie Long Fitball video.
Sunday’s exercise was in the middle of a power outage. The exercise was necessary considering the house was getting cold and I needed to stay warm. Here’s what the routine looked like:

I kept the work with the stability ball going with abdominal crunches, reverse crunches, chest presses with 5lb free weights, accordion crunches with push ups and ended with a backbend arch to stretch it out. As you can see, I am having lots of fun with the stability ball. It’s definitely one of my favourite fitness purchases of the year.
There’s always going to be something that is going to try to stop me from getting to the gym. It’s so easy to say I’ll skip it for today, but I know that I would feel guilty and be that much farther away from achieving my fitness goals. Instead of giving up, I stay motivated and remind myself that every crunch, every push up makes me stronger, happier and accomplished.
